Ah, England – now you have found yourself in a bit of a pickle.

The English team took another hard knock in their second game in Brazil after Uruguay beat them 2 – 1. And while many critics expected a result like this, there was still a few hopefuls, holding thumbs that England can turn their dreaded curse around.

When it comes to international matches, especially World Cup matches, England has not been performing too well as of late. The dreaded ‘English curse’ is said to thump the players whenever they take to the field on an international level.

This time around, Uruguay – or more in particular, the controversial Luis Suarez – knocked the English team to the ground.

This was also Suarez’ first game back after a month long healing period,, after he injured his knee. Needless to say, the Liverpool player was quite keen to get his boots back on and remind the world what he is made of.

Just before the end of the first half, in the 39th minute, Suarez scored the opening goal for Uruguay, The score was standing at 1 – 0 and England knew that had to do something if they wanted to keep their dream of World Cup glory alive.

Fast forward to the second half, and one can clearly see the the heat is on. Both England and Uruguay are playing some good soccer and the determination on their faces is visible.

And then, as the whole of England holds their breath, Wayne Rooney FINALLY scores his very first World Cup goal in the 75th minute. No doubt that this was an exceptionally big moment for him and of course a jolt of energy that his team needed.

With the score tied at 1 -1 now, with 15 minutes to go, everyone was on the edge of their seats.

And just as you thought the English dream might come alive, Luis Suarez steps up to the plate, yet again. Five minutes before full time, Suarez swoops in and, as he does, scores yet another goal making it 2 – 1 to Uruguay.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for England, who came so close – but yet so far. Now the Brits have to rely on Italy to beat Costa Rica tonight for a glimmer of hope.
